Residential
- Benefits
There are may benefits of using the sun's energy as your power
source.
Listed below are just a few.
- Increase
the equity in your home by two to three times the cost of the solar
system thus increasing resale value
- We
are in troubled financial times, so you can apply what you save on
power to paying down your mortgage, pay off credit card debt, or pay
for your vacation
- Pay
back is usually around 5-7 years—afterwards, the energy is
“free”; this equates to approx. 600% return on investment over
the life of the solar system.
- Produce
safe, reliable energy without pollution or contamination
- Eliminate
or greatly reduce your electric bill with Net Metering
- Sell
back your excess power production to SCE in exchange for energy
credits which you can use in times of lower production or greater
need
- Protect
the environment by producing and using clean renewable energy
- Help
reduce the risks associated with nuclear waste storage sites
- Help
reduce the global warming effects contributed by the emissions of
Carbon Dioxide into our atmosphere
- Reduce
pollutants in our environment such as Mercury produced from coal
burning power plants
- Reduce
the need for SCE to build new power plants and increase costs to
consumers
Many scientists tie warming
temperatures to rising emissions of certain gases like CO2. While
essential to survival, CO2 has seen a spike as fossil fuels are burned
by cars and factories, such as power plants, leading to concerns that it
and other gases are exacerbating the greenhouse effect that keeps Earth
inhabitable.
For every 1,000 Watts (1kW) of electricity saved, you eliminate the
following;
- 20 Tons of Carbon Dioxide (CO2),
- 130 Pounds of Nitric Oxide (NOX),
- 208 Pounds of Sulfur Dioxide (SO2),
- 101 Pounds of Mercury (Hg) ,
This is equivalent of:
- Planting 6 acres of trees
- Taking 4 cars off the road,
- Not driving 48,948 miles,
- Figures over 30 years
Figures are over 30 years.
